Abstract The results of the investigations of the effect of electron entrainment at low temperature twinning of Nb and “catastrophic” dislocation glide of Al are reported. Electric pulses, related to this effect, are employed for an analysis of kinetics and statistics of dynamic deformation proceses. including solid state physics, physics of metals, surface physics, statistical physics and optics is given. These achievements have been considered in the context of modern development of these fields of physics. The name of Corresponding Member of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR D. I.

This book provides a unified account of the theory of quantum liquid and discusses the mathematical theory of linear response and correlations. It is helpful for experimental physicists working in the fields of low-temperature or solid-state physics.

Print Book & E-Book. ISBNRecent Advances in Topological Ferroics and Their Dynamics, Volume 70 in the Solid State Physics series, provides the latest information on the branch of physics that is primarily devoted to the study of matter in its solid phase, especially at the atomic level.

This prestigious serial presents timely and state-of-the-art reviews pertaining to all aspects of solid state physics. Solid State Physics by Professor Leo Radzihovsky. This note covers the following topics: Elasticity, fluctuations and thermodynamics of crystals, thermodynamics of phonons, Hohenberg-Mermin-Wagner theorem, Ginzburg-Landau theory and Landau's quantum hydrodynamics, Bosonic matter, Magnetism in charge insulators, Jordan-Wigner transformation and XXZ chain, Coherent-spin states and Berry.

It is a better choice than Kittel's book. Ashcroft & Mermins book "Solid state physics" is IMO the best graduate level book. My personal favorite SS Physics book is "Atomic and Electronic Structure of Solids" by Kaxiras because its a computational Solid State physics book.

Undergraduate Education. Low-temperature and solid state physics are usually taught at the doctoral (Ph.D.) level as part of a physics degree. You could start your path to such a program with a bachelor's degrees in physics.

Asked to answer, so I’ll jump in here. Kittel is probably the most popular out there. I don’t like it as much, though, because in my opinion Kittel’s style is a bit terse in that he doesn’t provide as much detail into deriving the equations as I’d.

T HE SOVIET ACADEMIES of science put great emphasis on low‐temperature physics and strongly support a vigorous program of both basic and applied research in this field.

For example, the new Kharkov laboratory is undoubtedly the largest in the world devoted exclusively to low‐temperature investigations. These were some of the impressions that some of my low‐temperature colleagues Cited by: 3.

M Rosenberg. Solid state physics in the department focuses on the physics of modern nano materials in both fundamental and applied physics research. The department is home to the “Coldest Place in Africa” a Cryogen Free He3/He4 Dilution Fridge which is housed in.

Many of these phenomena are known as “Pomeranchuk effects.” They appear in solid-state physics, low-temperature physics, the electrodynamics of electrons and positrons, and in other fields.

In Pomeranchuk proposed a new method of cooling, based on the unique properties of helium at low temperatures. PHD in Physics and Mathematics, Khar'kov, Institute of Low Temperature Physics. The United States of America, the Soviet Union and Japan led the field with at least32 and 20 publications respectively; however, not one of the papers from the USSR and Japan could win more. This book, âQuasiparticles (Ideas and principles of solid state quantum physics)â, was written by two outstanding specialists in the solid state quantum theory.

The book is meant for a broad circle of readers. It contains no complicated mathematical formulas, nor derivations of them. The Institute of Solid State Physics was established on Febru by the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (now the Russian Academy of Sciences).
